Renovating an older Perth home?
Asbestos cement sheeting was common in eaves, external wall cladding, bathroom and laundry walls, and some ceilings. If you're renovating, extending or demolishing, it needs to be identified and removed first.
Common places to find it
- Eaves linings
- Fibro wall cladding on homes and sleep-outs
- Bathroom, laundry and toilet wall linings
- Behind wall tiles and under some flooring
Testing first
If you're not sure whether a material contains asbestos, a sample can be tested by a NATA-accredited lab. Your removalist can arrange this.
Cost
The price depends on the area to be removed, where it is in the house, and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed, written quote before anything starts.
