Why remove an asbestos fence?
Super Six (corrugated) and flat-sheet asbestos fences went up all over Perth from the 1950s to the 1980s. After decades in the sun they crack, lean and break, and damaged sheets are more likely to release fibres.
What's involved
A proper fence removal takes out the whole sheet, including the section buried in the ground. The removalist digs a trench along the fence line, keeps the sheets wet, lifts them out whole, wraps them and takes them to an approved disposal site.
Replacement fencing
Most people replace the old fence with Colorbond, new fibre cement or slat fencing. Many removalists can arrange the new fence too, so the job is done in one visit.
Asbestos fence removal cost
The price depends on the length and height of the fence, how easy it is to get to, the condition of the sheets, and whether you want a new fence put up. You get a fixed, written quote before anything starts.
